The first round proper of the FA Cup kicks off on the 3rd to the 6th of November. This will be the beginning of the main tournament after the qualification rounds. Among the 80 teams in this round, Hyde United and Heybridge Swifts will be the lowest ranked teams (level 8) in English football. The FA Cup final will be played at Wembley on the 19th of May 2018.
More established sides will enter the Cup on January 6th during the third round proper. This includes big guns from the Premier League and the Championship. One can make a quick buck betting on several games from now till the competition gets serious.
FA Cup 2016-17
Arsenal managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the finals and lift the FA Cup in the 2016-17 season. Everyone expected Chelsea to come out on top considering they won the league and put in a record 13-0 win streak. A red card for Victor Moses made it impossible to keep up and Arsenal won.
Arsenal has won the FA Cup a record number of 13 times. Arsenal has also won the competition in 3 out of the last 4 seasons. Could Arsene Wenger do the unthinkable and win the cup for Arsenal again?
While Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United and City remain favorites to win the cup, their involvement in other competitions and the Premier League might hamper their actual chances. Arsenal has to qualify in the top-4 and do well in the Europa Cup. Basically, Arsenal could potentially win the Cup without much serious competition.
Newcastle United, Leicester City and Macclesfield Town are the teams to look out for in the FA Cup this season.
