The 2018-19 season is a big one for Arsenal. Arsene Wenger stepped down at the end of the previous season, after mediocre results and an understandably irritated fanbase turning on him, with banners, chants and stadium boycotts. The new season will be breath of fresh air for the Gunners. With the appointment of Unai Emery, there is an air of optimism surrounding the Emirates.

Key Players
With players like Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil among the ranks, it leaves a lot to be desired from this group. Gooners are advised to not be too overconfident either. Just ask any Manchester United supporter. The Old Trafford club endured a difficult period following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson after 26 years at the helm and are still undergoing a transition. Unai Emery’s stock has a gone down a bit as well, following his difficult spell as boss of Paris St. Germain.

Emry In France
The former Sevilla boss underwent a turbulent period at the French capital, struggling to get through to various figures in the dressing room. These figures are echoed by former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Petit.

He quoted,
“The players must trust in him and follow his instructions, but I’m not sure that will happen," Petit said. "He was unable to do that at Paris Saint-Germain because of the egos in the dressing room. He was being eaten by the players, and he didn’t have the personality to be the leader. "Having watched him over the past two years in France, you could see he was frustrated. It was obvious he was a lone ranger at the club.” If the Arsenal players accept Emery and his philosophy, then there are sunny days ahead in North London. On the other hand, this could be the start of a transition period that may take a few seasons to settle.
